BLOCKING OR BOOSTING YOUR SELF CONFIDENCE?
Self confidence is measured on your ability to manage your own thoughts about you.
How would you feel if you were going into a situation telling yourself:
I’m not good enough
I have never done this before
I’m probably will fail
Who do you think you are?
My guess is not so upbeat or confident that you will do a good job. If you have a negative filter on your self talk you will shut down your self confidence.
On the other hand by telling yourself empowering things like:
I’m willing to feel any emotions
You can do this
It will be fine
I have your back no matter what
You increase your self confidence. Your self talk is super important, as what you tell yourself either boosts or blocks your self confidence.
EXERCISE
Next time you stand in front of a new task, witness your mind’s activity and how you are speaking with yourself.
Noticing how you feel. Are you feeling doubtful, worried, anxious or are you feeling excited, eager, curious?
Your thoughts are what create your emotions. So if you can manage your mind and what you are thinking, you can generate an empowering feeling on purpose and grow your self confidence.
