DEFAULT RESPONSE OF THE BRAIN
Your primitive part of the brain is wired for survival. It will automatically respond with fear to anything that’s new. What’s new is unfamiliar and what’s unfamiliar is threatening for the brain as it does not know how to survive under these circumstances.
It’s also wired for instant gratifications. Finding food to eat today was more important for survival 10.000 years ago than planning how to find food two months later.
Since you didn't know when you had to use your energy to run away from prey, the third survival instinct runs deeply in us is to conserve energy. Your mind will try its best to talk you out of doing anything that will take effort to do. It will come up with creative arguments, rationalising its way out of even trying.
All three survival strategies that USED TO WORK FOR US when we lived in an environment full of threats to our physical survival are NOW WORKING AGAINST US. Our environment has changed but our brain has not developed at the same speed and is massively behind.
If you think that the software running automatically will be enough to live a great life, you might want to consider thinking again.
If you want to grow, change or create something new you will need to go against your own basic programming. As:
Staying safe
Going after instant gratification
Conserving energy
are not the recipe to create sustainable success.
Instead:
Being willing to do new things
Delay gratification
Hard work
is the secret sauce to create something incredible.
This is why learning how to manage your mind is key to achieving success. As a mindset coach this is what I do. I help you reprogram and retrain your mind to work for you instead of against you.
I’m here when you are ready to move from living life by default to creating a life by design.
