I had an experience the other week that made me recognise how far I’ve come on my personal development journey.

Thursdays are our cleaning day. The cleaning lady had just finished wiping the floors and I was in the kitchen making her coffee.

I was dressed up ready to go for dinner and as I pressed down the lid of the French press the coffee sprayed like a volcano.

The whole kitchen and I mean the WHOLE kitchen got covered in water mixed with the coffee powder. My white blouse with ostrich feather (that really doesn’t like to be watched) got sprayed, my skirt.

When I say everything I mean EVERYTHING was covered in coffee(!!)

As I watched the kitchen that 5 seconds ago was spotlessly cleaned and now covered in coffee I just thought - Okay time to clean up.

I did not spend a single second ruminating in:

  • Oh, this shouldn’t have happened.

  • How could I be so stupid.

  • This was so unnecessary.

Zero time was wasted on arguing with reality.

I just looked at the coffee stains, grabbed the dish cloth and started to wipe up the mess.

It’s in these moments that we can see growth. When what is don’t affect us. When we don’t assign any meaning to it. We just meet reality where it’s at and move forward.

For me it was a great recognition of my own growth.

I was drama free.
