Your THOUGHTS generate your FEELINGS which drive your ACTIONS which create your RESULT.
So if you don’t like the RESULT you produce, you first need to understand what THOUGHTS that creates it.
It’s called the Model of life:
Circumstance - always neutral
Thought - gives our circumstances a positive or negative meaning
Feeling - generated by our thoughts about our circumstance
Actions - driven by our emotions
Results - created from our actions or non actions
Disempowering self talk:
Circumstance - 8h work day, 8 tasks due today
Thought - I will never be able to finish them in time
Feeling - Overwhelmed
Actions - Ruminate in the thought of not having enough time, distracting myself with small tasks that don’t move the dail, attending notifications instead of doing concentrated work
Results - Proving to yourself that you don’t have time to finish the tasks in time
Empowering self talk:
Circumstance - 8h work day, 8 tasks due today
Thought - I will get it done one thing at the time
Feeling - Determine
Actions - Start executing the tasks one by one, staying focused to what’s need to get done, not letting myself be distracted
Results - I get the tasks done in time
Can you see how it’s not what’s going on, your circumstance, that is creating your result in life but it’s your THINKING around the circumstance that does.
This is positive because you have little control over what’s happening in the world but you can learn to direct your mind to apply an empowering meaning.
Your self talk creates your version of the reality inside of you which affects the result you produce.
Practising supportive self talk will help you create more powerful results while feeling confident long the way.
When you change the way you look at things,
The thing you look at changes.
